FROM THE COHERENT TO THE MONSTROUS

instructor ULRIKA KARLSSON/ krets, servo

see also portrait krets/ servo

In the workshop students studied the growth or construction of

familiar modulations and monstrosities. The site and the architecture of the university building became important:

how can we work off and on the building through modulations and deviations? What performative qualities emerge?

And what relationships emerge and are produced by working off, growing on or adding onto the existing architecture? The different

participants with their different fields of study had very

different understanding and approaches to the monstrous and the familiar. We had a continual discussion in the group on the notions of the monstrous and the familiar, and how we would like to explore that through the work.
